New FamilySearch Experiences Tool

Have you seen the new FamilySearch Experiences feature?  It looks like a great tool to help consultants contact ward members and offer to help them follow through on temple opportunities, record hints, and discovery experiences that are waiting for them on FamilySearch.  These are the experiences that periodically get emailed to ward members.  However, because they either don’t have an email associated with their FamilySearch account, have not seen the messages, or are simply unsure how to follow through with them, the opportunities are still waiting.  They may need your encouragement to sign in to FamilySearch and check for waiting messages and your help knowing what to do next.

Here’s how it works:

First, go to the FamilySearch Experiences page at familysearch.org/campaign/patrons.  Log in using your FamilySearch credentials and you will see a list of ward members with temple, record hint, and discovery experience icons by their names.

List

Notice that to the left of each name is a highlighted COPY link.  Click this link to copy it and send the link to the ward member by text or email.  You can say something like this:

“Hi, this is [Your Name].  I’m a ward temple and family history consultant.  FamilySearch has made it possible for consultants to view a list of people in the ward who have temple opportunities or other family history experiences waiting for them on FamilySearch.  I see that you have a [temple opportunity, record hint, discovery experience] waiting.   Here’s a link for you to visit your messages inbox at FamilySearch and view your opportunity [insert link here].  I’d love to help you learn what to do with these hints.  Can we get together for 15 minutes sometime this week and review this one together? ”

In looking at my ward’s list, I would estimate that at least 75% of the members of the ward have temple opportunities.  Even more have record hints and discovery experiences. What a great way to help people get their feet wet and start learning how to complete simple temple and family history tasks.
